General Qualifications

2020 Summer Staff Positions

Cabin Leader
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old. Prefer 1 year of college or life experience. Cabin Leaders will work directly with campers on-site in all aspects of camp, will also spend some weeks off-site with our Vacation Bible School program.

Lifeguard
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old (some exceptions may apply) and high school graduate. Applicant must hold an approved lifeguard certification, with current CPR certification.  Responsibilities include maintaining safety in all waterfront activities and maintenance of waterfront and boathouse.

Arts & Crafts Manager
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old and 1 year of college or life experience. The applicant will be responsible for creating, teaching, ordering, and coordinating arts and crafts.

Ropes Course Manager
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old. Prefer 1 year of college and camp or related experience. Facilitate the high elements, low elements of our ropes course and 40’climbing tower. Must have experience with the low ropes course and ability to learn belaying and other skills for the tower and high course.  Must be physically able to climb the tower and high ropes course. Also, supervision of the Ropes Course Assistant.

Ropes Course Assistant
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old, with 1 year of college and camp or related experience. Work with the Ropes Coordinator to help facilitate the high and low elements of our ropes course and 40’ climbing tower. Must have experience with the low ropes course and ability to learn belaying and other skills for the tower and high course.  Must be physically able to climb the tower and high ropes course.

On-Site Program Coordinator
Prefer the applicant be at least 21 years old, 2 years of college and camp or related experience. They are responsible for implementing the summer program on-site and providing supervision for cabin leaders and activities staff. Must be comfortable to work with all ages and must have a valid driver’s license.

Off-Site Program Coordinator
Prefer the applicant be at least 21 years old, 2 years of college and camp or related experience. They are responsible for implementing Lutherdale’s Off-Site Vacation Bible School ministry and providing leadership and supervision of the VBS staff. Also responsible for leading Servant Adventure program. Must be comfortable to work with all ages and must have a valid driver’s license.

Health Care Coordinator
Prefer the applicant be at least 21 years old with 2 years of college or life experience. Position requires an American Red Cross “Emergency Medical Responder” certification or higher.  The H.C.C. is responsible for all health care, medication dispensing, and records management.

Waterfront Coordinator
Prefer the applicant be at least 21 years old with 2 years of college or life experience. Applicant must hold an approved lifeguard certification, with current CPR certification. Guarding experience required. The waterfront coordinator is responsible for maintaining safety in all waterfront activities and overseeing waterfront staff.

Weekend Coordinator
Prefer the applicant be at least 21 years old, 2 years of college and camp or related experience. They are responsible for supervising staff, groups, and on-site programs during the weekend. Must be comfortable to work with all ages and must have a valid driver’s license.

Weekend Staff
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old. Prefer 1 year of college or life experience. Under the supervision of Weekend Coordinator, work Friday afternoon-Sunday Afternoon. Run our weekend youth programs family camps, and help host on-site groups. Must be comfortable to work with all ages in a variety of program roles.

Media Manager
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old and high school graduate. The media manager is responsible for processing our e-mail program, creating daily media, and creating the weekly recap video. Experience with movie editing, photography, and computers (PC and Mac) preferred. Will not be required to provide own equipment.

Summer Kitchen Specialist
Prefer the applicant be at least 18 years old and high school graduate. Responsible for assisting in all areas of food service, organizing pack out meals, and serving evening snack. No previous food service experience required.

 

What Lutherdale Expects of You                                                                                            

  • Being a part of the Lutherdale staff is a major commitment. Our summer is broken into two different sessions. Each session starts with 1 week of paid staff training and runs for 4-5 additional weeks. Contracts run from May 31-July 4 and June 28-August 8.
  • Applicants are welcome to apply for different roles per each session of summer.
  • If a staff member works both sessions of summer, they do not need to go through the second week of staff training on June 28-July 4.
  • You will be expected to work 6 days a week and Lutherdale will provide you with 24 hours off each week.
  • Staff members are expected to abide by the code of ethics as written on the contract: conducting oneself in an exemplary manner adhering to high moral values both on and off camp.
  • Applicants pursuing a Coordinator position are required to work the entire summer (both contract sessions) in that role.

What YOU Can Expect From Lutherdale

  • Salaries start at $250/week plus room and board.
  • Workers Compensation Insurance is provided as required by law.
  • Lutherdale will provide you with two weeks of paid staff training to help prepare you for the summer.
  • Each staff member will receive 24 hours off each week, and 2 hours off each day.
