God, Gardens and Guns
Tuesday, May 17 | 10 AM - 3 PM
$25 per person
Program led by Jeff Wild

The morning Bible study will identify the biblical metaphor of God as Gardener, the role of gardens in scripture and congregations, and transforming swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks. In the afternoon, Jeff Wild will use his forge and anvil to turn a firearm into a garden tool. The demonstration will include theological insights for responding to gun violence and its devastating effects from a Christian perspective.
As a retired pastor, Jeff Wild works with the Food, Faith and Farming Network in establishing food pantry gardens in faith communities. Jeff took up blacksmithing three years ago with the goal of serving as a resource person for communities to address gun violence.
