Dear Diary (or in this case, back of a worship planning sheet),

What an amazing summer… being worship coordinator is a lot of work, but I love every moment of it. Every day is a new adventure in creativity. This week skits have ranged from God using other people to help us fish (spoiler alert: fish calls, which sound a lot like whale calls, end up being vital to the process), using unconditional love towards one another to combat sin (in the form of multiple hugs, of course), seeing how the bible can speak to us in different ways at different times (like when we’re about to be kicked out of a band), or just finding God’s voice in the chirping of the birds. I’ve done so many worships this summer, but no skit has been the same. Praise the Lord for our differences!

Today, specifically, I was asked to be a cabin leader. Flash from the past! I spent most of my afternoon belaying at the ropes course. It’s amazing what growth can happen in just a few hours. God works wonders at this camp! Most of my job involves running around behind the scenes to make sure that worships go smoothly and that all the details are taken care of so we can focus on God, but any chance I have to connect with the campers is a blessing. Every day I am surprised by the creativity and joy that I see in worship planning, whether it’s a great idea or someone stepping up to do something that might make them nervous.

As this week moves past the halfway point, I am anxious to see what else is in store for me as a temporary cabin leader. I can’t wait to get to know my guys better and try to show them how God has worked in my life. Worship coordinating on the side will be interesting, but that is what makes camp, “camp”. Every day is a new adventure and, despite having a similar schedule every day, you never really know what is going to happen next. But for now, I’m pretty hungry and it’s almost time for dinner.

Goodbye, my journal, it’s time to go eat food…(bum bum bum) I hope I’ll be writing in you again real soon…(bum bum bum) I’ll fold you up and put you in my pocket until we meet again, so goodbye goodbye… goodbye.

(In case you didn’t catch it, that was supposed to be to the tune of the goodnight song)
